OKEECHOBEE – The following felony cases have either been tried in a court of law or have been settled without trial and are considered closed.

• Arthur Biegel Jr., 52, was arrested in September of 2019 and charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia after failing to stop at a stop sign. K9 Luna assisted in the discovery of a crystal-like substance which later tested positive for methamphetamine. In December of 2019, he was adjudicated guilty and placed on two years probation, but then was arrested for violation of probation in June of 2020. According to the report, he stopped attending treatment sessions. On January 19, 2021, the violation of probation was dropped and probation was reinstated.

• Scott Carnley, 32, was arrested in October of 2019 and charged with possession of synthetic cannabinoid after riding a bicycle at night without any lights or reflectors. He was stopped by a member of the Okeechobee Narcotics Task Force, who noticed he appeared to be under the influence of some type of narcotic. His eyes were blood shot and he was swaying in a circular motion. The officer located 4.4 grams of synthetic cannabinoid in Carnley’s shoe after Carnley told him he could search him. Carnley was adjudicated guilty in December of 2019 and sentenced to five months in the county jail and two years probation. In May of 2020, he was charged with violating probation for failing to complete treatment. On Jan.19, the violation of probation was dismissed and probation was reinstated.

• Glenn Levy, 59, was arrested in June of 2018 and charged with leaving the scene of an accident with damage to property, resisting an officer with violence and battery on a law enforcement officer after running into an electric pole near Aldi’s and then telling onlookers he was going home. As he was being arrested, he fought officers and was eventually stunned with a taser. He was adjudicated guilty and sentenced to three months in the county jail and one year, 21 days probation in October of 2019. In July of 2020, he was charged with violation of probation for failure to pay court costs and fines and was arrested. On Jan. 19, 2020, the violation of probation charge was dropped, his fines were reduced and his probation was reinstated.
