FORT PIERCE — Indian River State College (IRSC) has expanded its Upskill/Reskill offerings to include the in-demand field of cyber security, allowing students to earn this valuable certification in as little as eight weeks. Courses for this certification are completely online and begin Oct. 14.

Earning the IRSC Upskill Certificate in Cyber Security provides completers with a credential from IRSC — a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Two-Year Education (CAE2Y). The designation — conferred by the National Security Agency (NSA) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) — acknowledges IRSC’s rigorous academic program and its Cyber Center of Excellence, an academic research and training facility dedicated to educating responsible leaders in the field by engaging in collaborative research, building community partnerships and maintaining high ethical standards of Cyber Security practices and policies. IRSC Upskill Certificate in Cyber Security completers also will earn 12 college credits that may be applied toward a corresponding Associate in Science degree.

According to the 2019/2020 Official Annual Cybersecurity Jobs Report, 3.5 million security jobs will be left unfilled globally by 2021. The cyber security profession maintains a 0% unemployment rate and industry pay is good, offering career opportunities for those with an interest in computers and technology.

IRSC Upskill/Reskill certification programs were designed to allow new and returning students quickly gain valuable training needed to help gain new employment, improve job security or take a leap into entrepreneurship. Registration is currently underway for programs beginning Oct. 8. Upskill/Reskill program descriptions are online at www.irsc.edu/marketing/upskill-reskill-at-irsc.html. Financial aid is available to those who qualify.
