FORT PIERCE — The Indian River State College (IRSC) Swimming and Diving Team took possession of two new national titles, earned four individual recognitions, and broke five national records—including the men’s 800 freestyle relay—during the 2022 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Swimming and Diving National Championships at the Anne Wilder Aquatic Complex on the IRSC Massey Campus in Fort Pierce March 2 through March 5.

The Men’s team earned 1406 team points and the Women’s team earned 1413.5 team points to secure their record-setting titles. This unrivaled performance extends the longest unbroken U.S. championship-winning streak in any sport at the collegiate level to 48 consecutive Men’s swim titles and 41 consecutive Women’s swim titles (44 overall women’s titles).

“Our student-athletes performance in the pool and on the diving-board was incredible,” shares Scott Kimmelman, IRSC Athletics Director. “Their exemplary effort demonstrates the commitment and passion of swimmers here at ‘The River’ and we are so proud of their accomplishments.”
