UPDATE: Due to today’s rainy weather, April 19. This road closure is extended through Wednesday, April 21 at 5 p.m. Crews will be working diligently to complete the project.
OKEECHOBEE — Okeechobee County has scheduled a continuous road closure at SW 28th Street at the west side of SW 24th Avenue, to allow for installation of a deep, large drainage culvert.
The road closure will begin Monday, April 19, 2021 at 8:00 a.m. through and including Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at 5 p.m. Traffic will be detoured to SE 16th Street and SW 32nd Avenue for the duration of the road closure.
Drivers are urged to plan ahead, drive with caution, and allow more time to pass through the area as the traffic volume on surrounding streets may be higher than usual.
