Members of the Republican Club work together

Posted

The Republican Club of Lake Okeechobee is a group of people who work together to keep their grassroots values alive and thriving in the community. Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of every month at 11 a.m. at Lakeside Grill, 1111 Parrot Ave. Members pay annual dues that help carry out many events throughout the county all year long. Members have passed out pocket Constitutions to all schools in Okeechobee, even taking extras to neighboring Glades County schools.

The Republican Club has members, such as Susan Hendershot, who volunteers as a mentor for several students and does a fabulous job; Heidi, who delivers meals to seniors; Raymond, who helps volunteer for Christ Fellowship Church to name a few of the people the club is blessed to have.

When weather permits, volunteers are helping at a booth at the Big O Flea Market for Membership Drives, Second Amendment petitions and voter registrations or at Meet and Greet events where the club serves free hot dogs, chips and a beverage, paid for from monies collected as dues.

The club proudly gave out two scholarships through monies earned via fundraiser events. The Republican Club have booths at local venues such as Labor Day in the Park, the Speckled Perch event, 4th of July and Halloween events, to name a few. If anyone, even high school seniors who get credits for helping out, is interested in volunteering or joining The Republican Club and making a difference in Okeechobee - please call 207-713-3720 or 574-249-9495. The Republic Club office is located at 1103 N. Parrot Ave., near Big Lake Cancer Center. The club is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday.
