Letter to the Editor: One Blood thanks blood donors

Posted

A very large THANK YOU goes out to all those who donated at the 17th Annual Okeechobee Blood Roundup and an equal THANK YOU to all those who tried to donate but could not, due to one reason or another.

But you will be proud to know that Okeechobee donated a total of 179 units of blood which, when added to the amazing numbers drawn throughout the past 17 years, brings The Roundup total to 6,171 units.

One Blood representative, Pat Michaels, said “The Okeechobee Blood Roundup continues to be one of the most successful blood drives for OneBlood, collecting 179 units this year. That’s over 500 people impacted by this blood drive! The people of Okeechobee should be proud that their community comes out and saves lives at that level.”

We want to thank all Okeechobee blood donors for their faithful attendance even despite the rains which came down all day Sunday. Thank you, also to all the, volunteers, restaurants, businesses, organizations, and individuals who gave their time, gifts, prizes and resources, and especially, support.

Thank you to those blood recipients who willingly told their stories to encourage donation and the school board for allowing us to use their facilities for this event and The Okeechobee News for its continued support and coverage.

Grab your 2023 Calendar now and turn to November and enter Blood Roundup in the boxes marked 18 and 19. We’ll be there that weekend welcoming you as you come and donate at the 18th Annual Okeechobee Blood Roundup.

Gratefully signed,
Raye Deusinger

One Blood, Okeechobee Blood Roundup, donors, thank you
