Local doctor stricken with COVID-19

Posted

OKEECHOBEE — Dr. Saeed Khan, a local internist, was stricken with COVID-19 last month and spent the last two weeks in the hospital. He is home now and is expected to make a full recovery.

Khan posted on Facebook that he was seriously ill and spent some time on a ventilator.

Khan is now receiving home health care from Big Lake Home Health Care with additional services from the Visiting Nurse Association.

In his post, Khan thanked everyone for their well wishes and support and acknowledged several who he said took care of him and without whom, he might not be alive today: Dr. Arif Shakoor, Dr. Raj Bansal, Dr. Daniel Boss, Dr. Dave Ambrose, Tahir Naeem, Dr. Vadere, Dr. Platt , Dr. John Robinson and the hospitalist and nursing team at Jupiter Medical.

“I especially would like to acknowledge Troy White, Sherry Douglas, Shelly Maggard, Angelica Garcia, Mohamed Nooruddin and Lara Buck, who have jump started my recovery at home and bring such care and joy to our home during this difficult time. They are instrumental helping Myra recover from COVID and bilateral pneumonia and she is almost 100% recovered,” wrote Khan.

Khan’s medical practice is open, without any change in hours with Amanda Curtis, Miranda Chandler, and Jane Powell providing patient care with Dr. Shakoor and Dr. Naeem supervising as needed.

“Please remember your face mask, hand washing and social distancing. Hoping you all stay safe and well,” said Khan.
