Toy drive underway
OKEECHOBEE — Big Lake Missions Outreach is sponsoring their 27th annual toy drive for their clients and underprivileged children in the county. Families are screened and the unwrapped gifts are to be wrapped by the parents and placed under the tree for Christmas morning. Gifts from 1-day-old to 17 years old are needed. Gifts may be in the form of gifts, gift cards or checks made out to Big Lake Missions and they will do the shopping for you. Pick up and receipts available upon requests. Individuals or groups may also adopt-a-family (early requests, please). Absolute last day to sign up to receive toys is December 10. For more information, please call 863-763-5725.
 
Santa in the park
OKEECHOBEE – Santa Claus will visit the Okeechobee City Park (next to City Hall on State Road 70) from 6 to 8 p.m. on  Dec. 1, 2, 6, 7, 8, 9, 13 and 14.
 
Join the Toy Run
OKEECHOBEE — Big Lake Missions Outreach along with FOE Eagle Riders and Reno’s Motorcycle Service are sponsoring their 27th annual bike run to benefit local children. The money raised will go toward the local toy drive, which is also in it’s 27th year. Donations for the ride can be made in cash or check (made out to Big Lake Missions Outreach). Everyone will meet at the Brahman Theatre, 1500 S. Parrott Ave., on Saturday, Dec. 4, at 8 a.m. Everyone will leave promptly at 8:30 a.m. for a three-hour ride through Highlands County. Upon returning to Okeechobee everyone will head to Cypress Hut FOE #4509, 1401 U.S. 441 S.E., for a bbq lunch. For more information, call Roy Reno or Brad Stark at 863-634-2275.
 
VFW hosts bazaar
OKEECHOBEE — VFW Post 10539 Auxiliary will host a Christmas Bazaar on Saturday, Dec. 4, from 8 a.m. to noon at the post, 3912 U.S. 441 S.E. Okeechobee. The bazaar will include hand made crafts, baked goods, jewelry, and more! Call Peggy Stein at 863-532-2144 to reserve a table.
 
Meet Santa ... and the Grinch!
OKEECHOBEE — Gilbert Chevrolet and Gilbert Ford will host photos with Santa and the Grinch in December. The photos are free. The public is welcome. On Dec. 8, they will be at Gilbert Ford, 3175 US-441, from 5 to 8 p.m. On Dec. 15, they will be at Gilbert Chevrolet, 3550 US-441, from 5 to 8 p.m.
 
Puppet show & movie in the park
OKEECHOBEE — Okeechobee Main Street invites you to a puppet show and Christmas movie on Friday, Dec. 10, at the intersection of S.R. 70 and U.S. 441/Parrott Ave. The puppet show begins at 6:15 p.m., followed by the movie at 7 p.m. This is an outdoor event and COVID safety measures will be taken to provide a safe environment.
 
Pregnancy Center has trees
OKEECHOBEE — The Pregnancy Center of Okeechobee is hosting a Christmas tree fundraiser. Trees are on display at the Pregnancy Center, 808 N.E. Park Street. Bids will be accepted through Dec. 10. The winning bidders can pick up their trees at the end of the Open House or the following week. For more information, call 863-467-8748. The annual open house will be on Dec. 10 from 5 to 8 p.m. Join the Pregnancy Center for an evening of sweet treats, hot cocoa, coffee, cider and Christmas carols. Everyone is welcome. Bring the kids for a free Christmas craft.
 
Christmas parade & festival
OKEECHOBEE — Okeechobee Main Street invites you to the annual Christmas Festival and parade on Saturday, Dec. 11, in downtown Okeechobee. The festival will be in Flagler Park, at the intersection of S.R. 70 and U.S. 441/Parrott Ave., from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and will feature arts, crafts, food and fun. The parade will begin at 6 p.m. featuring the Grinch and Santa Claus. This is an outdoor event and COVID safety measures will be taken to provide a safe environment. Holiday Window Contest
OKEECHOBEE — Okeechobee Main Street will host a holiday window decorating contest to encourage local businesses to decorate. All windows must be lighted. Windows must be completed by Dec. 16. The winners will be announced on Dec. 20. To enter the contest, see the Okeechobee Main Street page on Facebook or contact Okeechobee Main Street, 111 N.E. Second Street.
 
Kiwanis Club hosts Santa visits
OKEECHOBEE – The Okeechobee Kiwanis Club will host Santa visits in Park #4 of Flagler Park on Dec. 17, 18, 20, 21, 22 and 23 from 6 to 8 p.m.
 
Lighted boat parade
OKEECHOBEE — VFW Post 10539 will host this year’s 36th Annual Christmas Boat Parade to be held Saturday, Dec. 18. Boaters who wish to participate should decorate their boats with lights and meet on Taylor Creek by Burger King and the State Road 70 bridge at 5:30 p.m. The parade starts at 6 p.m. The boaters will go south on Taylor Creek to the locks and then turn left and go to VFW Post 10539. The post will give a prize for the best decorated boat. For more information, call Jim Helm at 863-532-5810.
 
Christmas Eve Candlelight Service
OKEECHOBEE — Okeechobee Presbyterian Church, 312 N. Parrott Ave., will hold a Christmas Eve Candlelight Service on Friday, Dec. 24, at 6:30 p.m.
 
Santa will be in town
OKEECHOBEE — Santa Claus will be escorted by the Okeechobee City Police Department on a float through the city streets on the following days: Thursday, Dec. 16 in the southeast area, Friday, Dec. 17 in the southwest area, and on Saturday, Dec. 18 in the northeast and northwest areas. They will begin at City Hall at 6 p.m. on all three days.

Wreaths Across America
ORTONA — On Dec. 18, at noon Wreaths Across America will be at Ortona Cemetery to remember and honor our veterans through the laying of remembrance wreaths on the graves of our country’s fallen heroes and the act of saying the name of each and every veteran aloud. If you would like to make a donation to help pay for the wreaths or volunteer to help lay the wreaths, go online to wreathsacrossamerica.org.

Firehouse Theatre hosts shows
LABELLE — Firehouse Community Theatre Inc., 241 N. Bridge St., presents Twas The Night Before Christmas, a comedy by Ken Ludwig. The wild holiday adventures of a mouse, an elf, and a spunky little girl who won’t take “No” for an answer. Join them on their quest to find out why Santa missed their house last year. It will be performed Dec. 3-5, and Dec. 10-12. Friday and Saturday evening shows starts at 7 p.m. and Sunday shows starts at 2 p.m. Call 863-675-3066 to get tickets! Shaw Family Christmas Tour
CLEWISTON — First United Methodist Church of Clewiston, 331 W. Osceola Ave., is excited to bring the Shaw Family to Clewiston on Dec. 11 at 7 p.m. as part of their Christmas Tour.
 
Toys for Tots
CLEWISTON — The Clewiston Chamber of Commerce is collecting Toys for Tots. Drop off new, unwrapped toys at 109 Central Avenue, Clewiston.
 
Wreaths across America
CLEWISTON — Wreaths Across America Day is Saturday, Dec. 18. Help put wreaths on veterans’ graves at Clewiston Ridgelawn, Harlem Memorial Gardens and Washington Memorial. To make a donation online visit wreathsacrossamerica.org/FL0916 or wreathsacrossamerica.org/FL0917. The ceremony will be at Clewiston Civic Park at 10 a.m. After the ceremony, participants will travel to the cemeteries to lay the wreaths.
 
Montura Christmas Festival
MONTURA ESTATES — The Montura Christmas Festival is planned for Dec. 18 with free toys, raffles and games for ages 10 and under, from noon to 2 p.m.

Holiday Craft Fair
BELLE GLADE — The Lawrence E. Will Museum, 530 South Main Street, Belle Glade, will host a Holiday Craft and Vendor Fair on Saturday, Dec. 4 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Food vendors will include Granny’s Seafood, Gordo’s Grill, Pahokee O’s, the Eggroll Guy, and Bunkys BBQ. Booths will feature homemade crafts, jewelry, soaps, candles, gifts, jams, jellies, Young Living Oils, Mary Kay Cosmetics and more. South Florida Fair Tickets will be on sale. Santa and his elves will be there for pictures and fun crafts with the children! Muck City Angler will be at the event as well as WAFC radio live from 1-3!
