OKEECHOBEE — On Oct. 27, 16-year-old Jordan Rickard, from Loxahatchee, was reportedly seen driving around Okeechobee in a 2015 silver Camaro which had been reported stolen in West Palm Beach. Okeechobee County Detective Cody Hurst, who had personal knowledge of Rickard’s hangouts began searching for the vehicle. It was located at the Oak Lake Apartments, but they were unable to locate Rickards at that time. Detective Hurst was able to obtain video surveillance of the area where the car was parked, and Rickards was located and arrested a few hours later. When Rickards was located, he was in the company of two teen girls. According to the video surveillance, the two girls had also been in the car earlier. One of the girls denied knowing the car was stolen and was released to her guardian. The second girl reportedly told Detective Hurst it was not her business when he asked if she knew the vehicle was stolen. She then refused to answer any further questions. She was arrested and charged with trespassing in a structure or conveyance, a misdemeanor. She was released to the custody of her father. Rickards was charged with grand theft auto and turned over to the DOJJ.
