MacQueen and Stevens win $50,000 on Lake Okeechobee

OKEECHOBEE- Bradley MacQueen and Kail Stevens won first place at the Bass Pro Shops U.S. Open National Bass Fishing Amateur Team Championship held on Lake Okeechobee on March 13 with a final bag of 29 pounds. The pair took home $50,000.

”The whole way in I didn’t think we had that much, honestly,” said Kail Stevens “We were putting them in the boat as soon as we caught them. Didn’t even really look at them. We were just trying to get up to 30 pounds and I didn’t think we were there. We were grinding."

Bradley and Kail will go on to compete in the Bass Pro Championship at Table Rock Lake, Mo on Nov. 19-21.

While anglers were competing on the water, the public participated in the excitement taking place on the broad banks of Lake Okeechobee with free socially distanced outdoor activities at Scott Driver Park .

● Free Kids Activities: Free interactive games, inflatable slides and more created a festive atmosphere for families and fishing fans of all ages to enjoy.

● Live Music: The Petersens, an American bluegrass band from Missouri’s Ozark mountains,  provided live music and entertainment throughout the day.

● World-Class Boat Demo Rides: Fans had the chance to test ride the latest offerings on the water. Models from America’s foremost boat brands including Tracker, Ranger, Nitro and more were available for fans 18 years of age and older.

● Outdoor Fun for the Whole Family: Guests  learned about fisheries conservation with representatives from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and enjoyed a Bass Pro Shops pop-up shop with exclusive merchandise and the latest gear from top outdoor brands, along with food and special activities.
