Mental health ‘toolkit’ available

FORT PIERCE – On Oct. 13, the Treasure Coast Mental Health Community came together to put on a spectacular film and educational panel discussion. The free CEU panel discussion included some of the film producers and editors, as well as mental health professionals from a few of the supporting agencies in the Treasure Coast area. The film event took place on Oct. 13. This was truly a team effort with the amazing help of Inner Truth Project, Suncoast Mental Health Center, Coral Shores Behavioral Health, Sandy Pines Adolescent Treatment Center, New Horizons Mental Health, Southern Comfort Health, St. Lucie County Chamber of Commerce, and Florida Center for Recovery. In total, there were 182 viewers of the film, 49 CEU’s given, and 136 individuals in attendance for the Q&A.

This film event came at a time when everyone could’ve used a different perspective on life and wellness. For those who were in attendance, the panel discussion was enlightening and informative about the daily struggles of mental health and the steps to heal the mind and body. With the wealth of knowledge provided by panelists Dr. Mark Pirtle, Tricia Cote, Dr. Jessica McCain, and Anne Lotierzo, attendees were able to better understand the personalities and character traits of the film participants and open the door to mental wellness opportunities. Various treatment modalities were discussed and each mental health agency representative was able to share which methods are used in specialty at their practice.

Following the event, a mental health virtual toolkit was available for all attendees to view and keep for their future reference. The toolkit included information about each of the supporting mental health agencies and helpful tools to achieve wellness. To receive this toolkit, email Lily Edwards, Marketing Coordinator at Suncoast Mental Health Center, at ledwards@smhcinc.org.
