OKEECHOBEE — The Pumpkin Patch at the First United Methodist Church is now open with more pumpkins this year than it has ever had. The pumpkins arrived Saturday morning and by Sunday morning workers had created a layout including several places to take pictures, decorative garden-like layouts and easy access to move through them to find the picture your family will treasure.

Mayor Dowling Watford, his son-in-law, grandson and a youth group from the Indian Baptist Church of Brighton joined the Methodist Church youth group, many adult members of the church, the Okeechobee County Sheriff’s Office and volunteers from the jail in unloading and placing a semi tractor-trailer full of pumpkins.

This unmanned Pumpkin Patch operates each year on the honor system. Pumpkin prices are listed in the walkway in front of the offices. When buyers make their choices, they are asked to pay at the office or put the money through the mail slot if no one is there.

The church welcomes all to bring the family, enjoy the pumpkin patch and take home happy memories. Be sure to bring your camera.
