Motorcyclist killed in two-vehicle accident

OKEECHOBEE — A 41-year-old Okeechobee man was killed Monday, Jan. 30  after his motorcycle reportedly crossed the double yellow line in order to pass the vehicle in front of him, according to the  Florida Highway Patrol report.

The accident was reported at 3 p.m.,

Both vehicles were traveling south on Southwest 16th Avenue approaching Southwest 44th Lane. 

The 41-year-old man was riding a 2012 Yamaha R1 Motorcycle.  As he attempted to pass the Chevy Malibu in front of him, the car made a left turn onto Southwest 44th Avenue into Palm Village Ranch. The motorcycle began to skid and hit the car.

The man on the motorcycle was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The 80-year-old woman driving the car was not injured.
