No suspects in shooting of young teen

Posted

OKEECHOBEE — On the morning of Jan. 11, 2023, units from the Okeechobee County Sheriff's Office and the Okeechobee County Fire Rescue responded to the 6000 block of NE 120th St. (known locally as Dark Hammock ROAD) about a shooting that occurred at a residence.

The family had loaded the gunshot victim into their vehicle and started heading toward town, meeting Fire Rescue a short distance away. At that location, preparations for a "life-flight" helicopter were established for the victim, a 13-year-old male, for Air Rescue to deliver him to St. Mary's Medical in West Palm Beach.

The 13-year-old male is currently in ICU, and condition is listed as "critical." The incident is still under investigation; therefore, no further information will be released until that investigation is completed.

However, we want to remain clear that there are NO outstanding suspects in this case.
