OKEECHOBEE -- Okeechobee Correctional Institution staff from security, the Rapid Response Team, medical, K-9 unit, recruiting, and hostage negotiators joined fellow law enforcement officers and staff in the Okeechobee leg of the Torch Run on Friday to support the Special Olympics. It was a great event for the runners as well as the Special Olympics athletes that were in attendance and we had the honor to meet. The Department of Corrections is the largest statewide supporter of the Torch Run and we love taking part every year. Thank you to everyone involved and please consider donating to the Special Olympics, it’s a great organization and they are great stewards of your donations.
