OCSO investigates death of person found in wooded area

OKEECHOBEE — In the early morning hours on Monday Jan. 16, 2023, deputies from the Okeechobee County Sheriff's Office discovered a deceased body in a wooded area around NE 14th Avenue in the Douglas Park Subdivision of Okeechobee County. The deceased was the victim of a criminal act, and the manner of death has been determined. This information will not be released at this time.

The victim has been identified. The family of the victim has enacted Marsy’s Law, and the identity of the deceased will not be released. This investigation is continuing.
