OCSO seeks help with homicide investigation

OKEECHOBEE — On August 7, 2022, The Okeechobee County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Division began a death investigation after a boater discovered a body in the rim canal.

The body recovered was identified as Alex Garland, a resident of Okeechobee. Alex went missing and was reported to our office the day prior by family after he did not return home the night of August 5, 2022.

Alex was last seen by witnesses in the Treasure Island (SE area of Okeechobee) around 10 p.m. on August 5, 2022.

For now, the investigation into Alex's death is considered a homicide until information comes forward to prove or disprove anything else.

We are asking for your help with any additional information, regardless of how small you feel it may be, that will help this investigation progress.
