OCT presents their spring comedy 'Play On!'

OKEECHOBEE — Putting on a play isn’t easy…nor is it cheap. That is a fact well known to both the Okeechobee Community Theatre (OCT) and the aspiring actors and crew they bring to life on stage in their spring comedy “Play On!” opening March 17 at 8 p.m.

For the real behind-the-scenes work at OCT, there is a board of directors, talented actors, invaluable stage crew, and gifted technicians that bring everything to life. For the unfortunate team of their play-within-a-play “Murder Most Foul” there is a rag-tag group of theatre wannabes…and Phyllis Montague - an eccentric local playwright with a flair for the dramatic who offers the theatre her newest show at no cost.

So what happens when the overzealous author can’t “pen” down her ultimate storyline, swapping lovers, murderers and more at the last second? For the characters, chaos ensues. For the audience? A hysterical performance you won’t want to miss!”

“Play On!” runs March 17 through April 1 at the historic Okeechobee Auditorium located at the Freshman Campus. This production features an ensemble of talented actors, many well-known for their previous OCT performances, including Laurie Garner, Jane Kaufman Robards, Darren Hotmire, Tina Welborn, Aryn Murray, Joey Marcinek, Ian Murray, Cassandra Adair, Katherine Hardy, and Connie Gerard. The play is directed by James Garner, Katherine Hardy and Joey Marcinek, with stage managers Grace Morgan and Martha Bucholtz, lighting by Laura Murray and sound by Justin Robards and Cesar Marin.

Tickets are available now at www.okeechobeecommunitytheatre.com or at the office of Okeechobee Main Street, Tuesday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. For information or assistance, call Okeechobee Community Theatre at 863-332-2053 or email okeecommunitytheatre@gmail.com.
