OHS Lady Brahman soccer Senior Night set for Jan. 27

Posted

OKEECHOBEE– The Okeechobee High School Lady Brahmans varsity soccer team is scheduled to hold their Senior Night after their game against the Westwood Lady Panthers on Jan. 27.

Okeechobee had a close loss to the Glades Day Lady Gators on Jan. 19, falling 5-4.
The Lady Brahmans fell behind in the first minutes of the game after Glades Day scored quickly to go up 1-0. They answered quickly, though, and tied the game up at 1-1 only a few minutes later.

Mid-way through the first half the Lady Gators scored again, this time on a corner kick. But, once again, Okeechobee had an answer. The Lady marching maneuvered the ball down field quickly after the Glades Day score and tied the games up at 2-2.

Okeechobee controlled the ball well, particularly in the middle of the field. Near the end of the first half the Lady Gators were doing all they could to maintain the tie before halftime.

The second half played out in almost the same way, with the Lady Gators and Lady Brahmans trading goals. Eventually Okeechobee just ran out of time and Glades Day got away with a one-goal victory. With the win the Lady Gators now conclude a season sweep of Okeechobee. They bested the Lady Brahmans early in the season with a 4-1 win down in Belle Glade.

Okeechobee fell short against the Port St. Lucie Lady Jaguars a few days later on Jan. 21 7-2. That loss dropped their record to 4-7 overall.

The upcoming game against Westwood is Okeechobee’s last game of the regular season. The first half of the schedule this year had the Lady Brahmans playing mainly away games, while the second half favored more home games. The few home games that were scheduled in the first half had to be scrubbed due to a potential COVID-19 exposure on the team in December.

The Lady Brahmans and Lady Panthers battle starting at 4 p.m. on Jan. 27.
