Okeechobee County Commission honors volunteers

Posted

OKEECHOBEE – The week of April 16-22, 2023 was designated  as Volunteer Appreciation Week by the Okeechobee County Commission at their April 13 meeting.

According to the proclamation, the county commission the week will “recognize the hard work, dedication and passion of volunteers and national service members throughout our nation.

“Last year, more than 65 million Americans gave their time in service as volunteers within our nation, which is a testament to the compassion and generosity of the American spirit. Our Board recognizes the impact of volunteer service and the dedication of volunteers to tackle society’s greatest challenges, to build stronger communities and be a force that transforms their community,” the proclamation continues.

“Okeechobee County believes that government alone cannot meet all of our county’s needs, so we partner with businesses, organizations, foundations, non-profit organizations, and with individuals who serve in county government and in our community to make a difference.

“Our county is committed to encouraging volunteerism among its employees, citizens, partners, businesses and organizations and we thank all volunteers for their dedicated volunteer service, time, talent and voices in carrying out their duties and responsibilities on their respective boards.”
