Okeechobee County Economic Development Corporation receives Enterprise Florida Rural Site Preparedness Grant

Posted

OKEECHOBEE — The Okeechobee County Economic Development Corporation (OCEDC) is pleased to announce their approval for the Enterprise Florida Rural Site Preparedness Grant in the amount of $25,000. The Corporation has identified this grant to fund the Okeechobee Commerce Park Roadway Enhancement Project which is a mutual effort with Okeechobee County.

This project aims to include milling, resurfacing, and striping of the entryway access road, replacing and expanding existing lighting, and installing drought tolerant landscaping along the entry way access road and a median island in a two phase approach. These enhancements to the commerce park will uniformly improve the aesthetics and its marketability to commercial and industrial site selectors. The corporation and the County anticipate starting this local initiative within the next few months and completing in 2022.

Enterprise Florida’s Site Preparedness Grant is reimbursable with a 10% match, and is aimed to assist rural communities with development and enhancement of sites to make them build ready and competitive for site selection projects. A local strategic plan for this project has been approved by the Okeechobee Board of County Commissioners and will be executed symbiotically with the County’s Airport Manager and the Okeechobee County Economic Development Corporation. The corporation has agreed to provide the 10% match on behalf of the project as the recipient of the grant.

For more information regarding this project, you can email Kaylee King at kaylee@OCEDCorp.com or call 863-357-2314.
