Okeechobee County Road Watch report for the week beginning Sunday, June 27

OKEECHOBEE COUNTY — The following column is the Road Watch report for Okeechobee County for the week beginning Sunday, June 27, provided by the Florida Department of Transportation.

As a reminder, travelers can visit www.FL511.com or dial “511” from their phone to learn about traffic conditions on major roadways across the state.

Motorists are reminded to wear safety belts and drive with caution, courtesy, common sense, and patience as they travel through work zones. Remember, speeding fines are doubled in work zones.

• US 441 at 2nd Street: (Utility permit project) Crews are working in the manholes between Southeast 2nd Street and Southwest Park Street. Watch for a nighttime right lane closure and workers in the roadway.

• US 441 from Northeast 5th Street to Northeast 9th Street: (Construction project) Crews will mill and resurface US 441 from Northeast 5th Street to Northeast 9th Street for a railroad crossing reconstruction. Additional work includes curb and gutter, drainage improvements, guardrail, sidewalks, signing and pavement markings and signalization.

○ Motorists should expect intermittent northbound and southbound lane closures on US 441 from Northeast 5th Street to Northeast 9th Street during construction.

○ Estimated completion is fall 2022. The contractor is C.W. Roberts Contracting, Inc.
