Okeechobee County Schools COVID-19 update: Hundreds of students have possible COVID-19 exposure

OKEECHOBEE — Between Monday, Jan. 4 and Friday, Jan. 22, 461 students and or staff members were excluded from Okeechobee County Schools due to possible COVID-19 contact.

On Jan. 19, a high point of 146 exclusions (140 students and six employees) was noted on the COVID-19 dashboard. On that date the following exclusions were reported:
• Yearling Middle School-66
• South Elementary School-1
• Osceola Middle School-8

• Okeechobee Virtual School-1
• Okeechobee High School-7
• Okeechobee Freshman Campus-3
• Okeechobee Achievement Academy-16 
• North Elementary School-8 
• Central Elementary School-16.

Since school began on August 19, 2020, 1,319 exclusions have been reported.
