Okeechobee Fire Report

• Between Oct. 5 and Oct. 11, Okeechobee City Fire Department responded to 17 medical/EMS, 10 motor vehicle accidents, two public assist calls and one false alarm.

• Okeechobee County Fire Rescue responded to 131 medical/EMS, 10 motor vehicle, three public service, two aircraft standby, two fire-related and four miscellaneous calls last week. Of 100 possible transports, six were refused.

• On Oct. 9 at approximately 9 p.m., OCFR responded to a call regarding a brush fire on Northwest 144th Drive. When they arrived, they found approximately a 2- by 2-foot area on fire. The landowner extinguished the fire by putting water on it.

• On Oct. 11, at approximately 2:30 p.m., OCFR responded to a call regarding a rubbish fire in the 10200 block of Northwest Third Terrace. When they arrived, they found three men around a burn pile from clearing property. The pile was surrounded by water. There was also a skid steer on the property.
