Okeechobee man accused of molesting child and false imprisonment

OKEECHOBEE -- On Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2023, the Okeechobee County Sheriff’s Office arrested Jose Elias De La Torriente, 59, after a 13-year-old child made accusations against him about lewd or lascivious molestation taking place.

While speaking with the child, they provided evidence showing that De La Torriente reportedly committed lewd or lascivious battery and false imprisonment on the 13-year-old.

De La Torriente was arrested with two counts of lewd or lascivious battery and one count of false imprisonment. De La Torriente’s bond was set at $500,000.
