Okeechobee man accused of murder

OKEECHOBEE — A 28-year old Okeechobee man has been arrested and faces the charge of murder while engaged in the commission of a felony, a capital offense, according to a report from the Okeechobee County Sheriff’s Office.

Pardell K. Rembert was arrested in connection with the shooting that ultimately led to the death of a 16-year old victim on Monday, Nov. 16.

Rembert remains in the Okeechobee County Jail with no bond.

“When working a murder case, our deputies and detectives have to document everything, nail down timelines, follow every lead and treat everything as evidence. Deputies and detectives work around the clock to solve this kind of crime,” said Sheriff Noel E. Stephen. “This case was solved exceptionally fast due to the cooperation of the residents in the neighborhood, witnesses and those that came forward with information. I’d like to thank the community for their involvement in helping solve this murder. Thank you for your cooperation.”
