OKEECHOBEE — Raulerson Hospital, owned by HCA Healthcare, has acquired another robotic system for minimally invasive surgery.

The new addition of a da Vinci Xi robotic system will complement their existing da Vinci Si robotic system to support more precise surgical procedures and shorter recovery periods.

“This second system enables us to provide state-of-the-art, world-class care right here in Okeechobee,” said Brian Melear, Chief Executive Officer for Raulerson Hospital.

Robotic surgery combines the human touch of highly trained surgeons with the precision of today’s most advanced technology.

These systems can be used across various specialties in gynecology, general surgery, colorectal surgery, urology and orthopedics.

“We received our first robotic surgery system just nine months ago,” said Melear, “receiving another system demonstrates HCA Healthcare’s investment in our facility and our community.”

Raulerson Hospital focuses on minimally invasive surgical offerings, which means that patients can experience less blood loss, shorter hospital stays, faster recovery and less scarring.

“These robotic systems allow physicians to perform operations making only small incisions allowing the patient, in many cases, to go home from surgery the same day” Melear stated.

Raulerson Hospital is part of HCA East Florida, the largest healthcare system in Eastern Florida and an affiliate of HCA Healthcare. The health system announced 13 new surgical robots that include da Vinci Xi, Mako, CORI, Ion, Rosa and Monarch systems. The company is now home to 42 total surgical robots, one of the largest robotic fleets in the region.

“This robotics acquisition speaks to the scale and strength of our HCA East Florida network as well as our commitment to driving innovation and safety across our hospitals,” said Charles Gressle, HCA East Florida Division President. “We are committed to offering our patients the most sophisticated, industry-leading surgical procedures.”
