OKEECHOBEE – Has your income been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic? Are you facing eviction? Assistance is available.
The deadline to apply for help is Dec. 1.
Available assistance includes:
• Temporary rent or mortgage payments for eligible tenants or homeowners financially impacted by COVID-19; and,
• Help with past due utility bills for tenants and homeowners who quality for rent or mortgage assistance.
Applicants must be residents of Okeechobee County, have proof of job loss or reduced income due to COVID-19 and reside in eligible housing. (Mobile homes older than 1995 are not eligible for assistance.)
To apply for assistance, contact the Okeechobee County SHIP coordinator at 863-763-9312, ext 6. Applications are available in room 105 of the Historic Okeechobee County Courthouse, 304 N.W. Second St., Okeechobee.
