Rim canal near Moore Haven blocked

Posted

GLADES COUNTY -- (Oct. 19, 2022) The  U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is advising commercial and recreational vessels that the rim canal north of the Julian Keen, Jr. Lock at S-281 is currently obstructed by a Floating Buoy Line to prevent floating vegetation from impeding navigation within the Okeechobee Waterway. The Buoy Line will remain in place while until the floating vegetation is cleared. Upon completion, the Buoy Line will be removed, and rim canal will reopen to navigation. Point of contact is Kriss Zeller at 863-983-8101 or call the Julian Keen Jr. lock operators on duty at 863-662-9533 or 863-946-0414.
