Sexual offenders not welcome in regular storm shelters

Posted

OKEECHOBEE — This a reminder for all sexual offenders registered within Okeechobee County.

Shelter from the impending storm is available ONLY at the Okeechobee County Detention Facility located at 504 NW 4th St., Okeechobee.

If you attempt to enter any other shelter, you will be turned away and may be violated for the attempt.

Again, we will house you, and you are free to leave at any time once you are checked-in.

However, we cannot stress that you should not attempt shelter at county-maintained facilities for the general population or special needs.
Law Enforcement is at every site and monitors everyone that comes through the intake.
