Rename U.S. 27?

• “If it is going to be named after anyone, why not name it after Officer Brian Haas or another officer that passed in the line of duty. It would have more meaning if we’re named after someone local.” – Heather Lowman

• “Why! What did he do to be recognized so much? Nothing!” – Stephanie Lowman Dominguez

• “No point in it... Sugarland Highway?” – Brian Murray

• “There were 44 other Presidents before Trump. Why didn’t the question arise then? What’s RIGHT is to change it every time there is a newly elected president.: – Gloria Boone Bovell

• “Hell no he probably doesn’t even know how to get on 27 if anything should be someone who’s lost a life.” – Angee L. Cobbins

• “Why? So down the road it can be changed like all the names of schools are currently doing?? Waste of money!' – Kelly Koger

• “Highway 27 between Clewiston and Miami was once named for Charlie Miner.” – Mary Lois Lee

• “I loved our President Trump, but no.” – Amanda Langdon

• “No. Think of the huge cost of new signs.” – Mary Nelle Thomas

COVID vaccine

• “I signed up on wait list for available covid vaccines a few weeks ago with Okeechobee County. I was having no luck getting an appointment through Publix’s online sign-up. I was so happy the other day when I was called and offered an appointment for today, Feb 12, at the Agri Civic Center. I went and all was very efficient and organized! There were many people working and it was great. I was finished in about 40 min. And that included a 15 minute wait to make sure I had no bad reactions! So don’t despair, anyone!” - M.A.K.

• “My husband and I went for our appointment at the Okeechobee Agri-Civic Center and it was run totally organized it took about 30 minutes from start to finish which 15 minutes you have to wait after shot. This is how it should be done. Great job to all the workers.” – Patricia Hoanshelt

Roundabout

• “The Florida Department of Transportation is putting in a roundabout on U.S. 441 S.E. at S.E. 18th Terrace in Okeechobee. It is backing up traffic for about a mile each direction with only one lane of travel open at a time. Avoid this intersection. Use State Road 710 and County Road 15 as a detour.” – Anonymous

• We can’t get in or out of our driveway due to backed up traffic that won’t let us in our driveway. Friday my 25 minute commute from work turned into over 1 hour. I was over 500 feet from my driveway for 30 minutes. People are stopped, waiting at the stop light, and individuals are driving on the shoulder to get by.” – Mylinda Kimball

• “All that was needed was a traffic light....think of the money saved with that simple solution.' – Arlene Belue

• “The reality is it’s been proven worldwide that roundabouts are the safest form of intersection. Short term traffic issues during construction will be well worth it for the less accidents and saved lives when it’s done.” – Dick Mottinger

• “Think about stock trailers and semis. They are now all going to go down other major roads and cause more damage and traffic.” –Bryan Skelton

• “I drive in roundabouts with a truck pulling a large horse trailer. It’s not that big a deal. Once you get used to the roundabout it will not be a problem. It’s a little frightening sometimes to have to learn something new, but even old people like me can do it. If this senior citizen can drive a truck with a big trailer around a roundabout, you can too.” – S. Smith
