Special magistrate to hear code enforcement cases

OKEECHOBEE – The Code Enforcement Special Magistrate will hear the following cases on Tuesday, Jan. 18, at 9 a.m., in the Okeechobee County Health Department Auditorium, 1728 N.W. Ninth Ave.:

• The 7679 property owned by Christopher Catron and Angela Cook, was cited for abandoned/inoperable vehicles, unauthorized occupancy of an RV and parking, storage and use of certain vehicles. RVs cannot be used as residential structures in Okeechobee County unless at a licensed RV park. The RV with tarp on roof must either be repaired and tarp removed or be enclosed in a structure.

• The 1648 property owned by Duane Thomas was cited for trash and debris, unsafe structure and overgrown weeds or grass. The unsafe building must be repaired or demolished. Trash and debris must be removed. Overgrown grass, trees and foliage must be cut back.

• The 2701 N.W. 53rd Terrace property owned by Fulgencia Ascencio was cited for construction without a building permit. Permits must be acquired.

• The 1494 47th Terrace property owned by Eli Isael Flores Rodriguez was cited for abandoned/inoperable vehicles, unauthorized shipping container, unsafe structure, construction without a building permit, outdoor storage or dumping and overgrown weeds and/or grass. All vehicles must be registered, insured and roadworthy or garaged out of sight. The shipping container must be removed. Front doors must have proper stairs. Siding and skirting on house must be repaired. Permits are required for any work being done. Trash and debris must be removed.

• The 3535 N.W. 35th Ave. property owned by the estate of James Frye was cited for inoperable abandoned vehicle, trash and debris and outdoor storage. Property must be cleared of inoperable, unlicensed/abandoned vehicles and trailers. Trash, debris and outdoor storage items must be removed. Roof must be repaired with applicable permits.

• The 7725 N.W. 84th St. property owned by Mitch Brydell was cited for abandoned/inoperable vehicles. All vehicles must be registered, insured and roadworthy or garaged out of sight.

• The 3126 S.E. 26th St. property owned by Donald H. Conran and Deborah M. Conran was cited for abandoned/inoperable vehicles, outdoor storage or dumping and overgrown weeds/grass. All vehicles must be registered, insured and roadworthy or garaged out of sight. Grass and weeds must be trimmed. Outdoor storage items must be removed.

• The 6051 S.E. 97th Trail property owned by Charles Anderson and Meryl Anderson was cited for abandoned/inoperable vehicles, construction without a building permit, outdoor storage or dumping and overgrown weeds or grass. The owners must obtain a permit for the shed or remove it, remove all outdoor storage of household items, wood, metal, buckets, scrap material and other accumulations. Remove all unlicensed, inoperable vehicles from the property, mow and trim overgrown grass.

• The 3909 U.S. 441 property owned by Rafael Barajas and Alma Barajas was cited for construction without a building permit. Property owners must obtain a permit for the shed or remove the structure.

• The 1585 N.W. 43rd Ave. property owned by Robert Tripp was cited for unsafe structure and overgrown weeds/grass. Condemned structure must be removed from the property, grass and weeds trimmed.

• The 1432 N.W. 45th Terrace property owned by Argelio Velasquez Villatoro was cited for unauthorized structures, buildings or containers, overgrown weeds/grass and unauthorized use of land or building. The RV must be removed from the property. Grass and weeds must be trimmed.

• The 11087 N.E. First Way property owned by Farris L. Brewer and Imogene M. Brewer was cited for unsafe structure and overgrown grass/weeds. Unsafe/derelict structures must be removed from the property. All overgrowth must be cut back.

• The 3673 N.W. 16th Ave. property owned by Fernado Ortiz was cited for unsafe structure, overgrown weeds, exterior of home damaged and condition which constitutes a safety hazard. The structure was condemned on Jan. 27, 2021. All structures on the property, including pool which is currently a safety hazard, must be demolished and debris removed. All overgrowth must be cut.

• The 2601 N.W. 53rd Terrace property owned by Arlene Huff was cited for a vacant, derelict mobile home that has been condemned by the building official and must be demolished.

• The 2605 U.S. Highway 441 S. property owned by the Pascali Group Inc. was cited for trash, litter and debris, paint on exterior wall missing and eroded, cracks or holes in exterior walls, overgrown weeds/grass and abandoned building. Corrective measures required include: Secure carwash; remove or repair derelict canopy and gas pedestals with applicable permits; repair holes and cracks on the exterior of the building; pressure clean and paint; remove all trash and litter; mow and trim property of overgrown weeds and grass. “The deterioration of this abandoned building and property endangers the health, safety and welfare of adjoining property owners and the county as a whole,” the code officer noted.

• The 17272 N.W. 272nd St. property owned by Yeimy Cruz, was cited for unauthorized structure, violation of minimum housing standards and unauthorized use of land and/or building. All primary structures must be a minimum of 1,000 square feet living space and be of conventional, modular or manufactured construction. Property or land cannot be used for storage or habitation in an unpermitted structured.

• The 11555 U.S. Highway 441 S.E. property owned by Brown Shoe Management Group, Inc., was cited for inoperable, abandoned vehicle; trash and debris; parking, storage or use of certain vehicles; outdoor storage; overgrown weeds/grass; unauthorized use of land or building and dilapidated structure. The property owner was instructed to clear property of unlicensed/inoperable vehicles, including RVs, remove or repair dilapidated structure with applicable permits, remove all trash, debris, tarps and accumulation of construction material and lumber, clean or paint exterior or units and other structures, mow and trim overgrown weeds and grass. Storage of recreation vehicles, trailers, mobile homes or manufactured homes is not permitted.

• The 3639 S.W. 19th St. property owned by Linda S. Christian, was cited for trash and debris, outdoor storage and roof deterioration. Property owner was instructed to repair roof with applicable permits, and remove trash, debris and accumulation of outdoor storage.

• The 3347 N.W. 29th St. property owned by Hector Pinon Jr., was cited for trash and debris, outdoor storage and overgrown weeds, grass, bushes or shrubs. The owner was instructed to clear property of vehicle/trailer storage, trash, debris and accumulation of scrap material and to mow and trim overgrown grass and weeds.

• The 1636 S.W. 10th St. property owned by Willie W. Tindell was cited for inoperable abandoned vehicle, trash and debris, outdoor storage and overgrown weeds/grass. Owner was instructed to clear property of unlicensed/abandoned vehicles, boats, trash, debris, tires, appliances, animal pens, mechanical parts and accumulations of scrap material and household goods, and to mow and trim overgrown grass and weeds. Storage on a vacant lot is not permitted without a primary structure in a residential zone.

• The 814 N.E. 15th Ave. property owned by Richard Roberts was cited for overgrown weeds, grass, brush or shrubs, building discolorations, roof and skirting deterioration. The property owner was instructed to repair roof and skirting with applicable permits, mow and trim overgrown grass and weeds and clean or paint exterior.

• The 15464 N.W. 304th St. property owned by James Perry and Aretha Snagg-Perry was cited for unauthorized structures, unsafe structure, outdoor storage or dumping, violation of minimum housing standards, unauthorized used of land and/or building and condition which constitutes a safety hazard. The code enforcement officer noted, “Okeechobee County does not allow buildings or structures which are dilapidated, unsanitary and unsafe or constitute a fire hazard. The structure at the above mentioned address does not meet the minimum housing standard. Therefore the structure must be removed. Remove all outdoor storage from property.”

• The 16744 N.W. 252nd St. property owned by Joseph Kravtzoff and Kathy Kravtzoff was cited for construction without a building permit, unauthorized structures, buildings or containers, violation of minimum housing standards and unauthorized use of land and/or building. The property owners were instructed to remove all unpermitted accessory structures from the property. The code enforcement officer noted accessory buildings are not considered habitable dwellings in Okeechobee County.

• The 1536 N.W. 296th St. property owned by the Donald L. Fry and Michelle Mazerolle Joint Living Trust was cited for unauthorized occupants of RV, unauthorized structures, violation of minimum housing standards and unauthorized use of land. The code officer noted RVs can only be occupied in authorized RV parks. Property owners were instructed to remove all unpermitted accessory structures from the property.

• The 153 Main St. property owned by Juan A. Pellot Jr. was cited for abandoned/inoperable vehicles, trash and debris, construction without a building permit, outdoor storage or dumping, overgrown weeds/grass, unauthorized structures or containers, parking, storage and use of certain vehicles, violation of minimum housing standards, unauthorized use of land and/or building and condition which constitutes a safety hazard. Property owner was instructed to: Clear property of all outdoor storage accumulations including motor parts, metal and tires; remove trailer from property; clear property of all unlicensed, inoperable vehicles and vessels; remove all accessory structures and dilapidated recreation vehicle. Property cannot be used as a salvage yard or as a campground. A permitted 1,000 square foot conventional, manufactured or modular home must be present for any other structures to exist.

• The 3019 N.E. 11th Lane property owned by Steven Hull Sr. and Deborah Hull was cited for trash and debris, outdoor storage or dumping, overgrown weeds/grass, and parking, storage or use of certain vehicles. The code officer noted: “In residential districts, no automotive vehicles, trucks, buses, tractor trailers, recreational vehicles of any type without current registration or license plates can be parked or stored on the property other than in a completely enclosed structure.”

• The 5394 State Road 710 property owned by Connie Rollins was cited for construction without a building permit, overgrown storage or dumping and overgrown weeds/grass. The code officer noted no construction may be done without a building permit.

• The 5748 S.E. 89th Terrace property owned by Penny Fraley was cited for trash and debris, construction without a building permit, outdoor storage, overgrown weeds/grass and unauthorized structures, buildings or containers. Property owner was instructed to remove shipping container, obtain permit for deck or remove deck, clear property of all outdoor storage, including trash and debris, windows, tires, scrap materials and other accumulations.

• The 13750 S.E. 127th Terrace property owned by Betty Chism was cited for construction without a building permit.

• The 6568 N.W. Second St. property owned by Harold Christopher Scott Jr. was cited for abandoned/inoperable vehicles, trash and debris, outdoor storage or dumping; overgrown weeds/grass, deterioration of property due to negligence, derelict mobile home, endangers the comfort, health and safety of any person; unauthorized use of land and/or building; and, condition that provides harborage for vermin. The property owner was instructed to clear all property of overgrowth, pressure clean or repaint mobile home, remove outdoor storage items including appliances that are surrounding the house, remove the disabled vehicle and clean up property so it does not appear in state of deterioration or disrepair.

• The 30150 N.E. 17th Terrace property owned by Margaret Sullivan and Glenda Turner was cited for trash and debris, obstruction of right of way, outdoor storage or dumping, overgrown weeds/grass, unauthorized use of land and/or building and condition that provides harborage for vermin. The property owner was instructed to remove all trash and debris, clear overgrown weeds and high grass, and remove accumulation of items and appliances stored in the right of way and throughout the property.

• The 18750 N.W. 38th Ave. property owned by Francisco Solis and Anita Solis was cited for trash and debris, construction without a building permit, outdoor storage or dumping, overgrown weeds/grass, unauthorized structures or containers, and condition which provides harborage for vermin. The property owner was instructed to clear trash, debris and building materials, remove outdoor storage of items, trim grass and weeds and eliminate any condition that appears unsightly or provides harborage for vermin. The property owner was also instructed to obtain a permit for the pool and pool deck or remove both from the property.

• The 1655 N.E. 103rd Ave. property owned by Manual Vilarino was cited for inoperable, abandoned vehicle, trash and debris and outdoor storage. All vehicles must be registered, insured and roadworthy or garaged out of sight.

• The 1840 S.W. 23rd Terrace property owned by Sharon Waldron and Deana Oaks was cited for overgrown grass/weeds and dilapidated structure. Property owners were instructed to remove the dilapidated structure, with applicable permits, and mow and trim overgrowth.

• The 1685 N.W. 103rd Ave. property owned by Donald and Deborah Conran was cited for inoperable, abandoned vehicle, overgrown grass/weeds and dilapidated roof. Property owners were instructed to repair roof, with applicable permits, and mow and trim overgrowth.

• The 791 S.W. 85th Ave. property owned by Lucia M. Corona, Antonio Corona and Mariano Corona was cited for outdoor storage, overgrown weeds/grass and unauthorized structures, buildings or containers. Property owners were instructed to remove utility trailers, recreational vehicles and scrap material and to mow and trim overgrowth.

• The 2805 N.E. 11th Lane property owned by Ronald King, Christine Mae Heiss and Henry Allen was cited for outdoor storage, overgrown weeds/grass, damaged windows and exterior discoloration. Property owners were instructed to mow and trim overgrowth, remove outdoor storage from front porch and yard, repair damaged windows with applicable permits and clean or paint exterior.
