Treasure Coast Food Bank needs turkeys

Posted

Treasure Coast Food Bank has 15,000 holiday meal boxes ready to go to families needing help with groceries for their Thanksgiving Dinner this year, but it needs the community’s help to make those meals complete.

Treasure Coast Food Bank is asking the community to donate turkeys so everyone can share in a traditional Thanksgiving dinner.

This year, the high cost of food and other essentials has kept the need for food assistance high. Each week, Treasure Coast Food Bank is providing food to about 225,000 people in Indian River, St. Lucie, Martin, and Okeechobee counties. During the holidays when budgets always are stretched, demand is expected to rise further.

Anyone wanting to help can drop off an uncooked, frozen turkey at Treasure Coast Food Bank’s headquarters, 401 Angle Road in Fort Pierce, on any weekday between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Together with its partner agencies, Treasure Coast Food Bank will be distributing the holiday groceries in the next few weeks. Visit stophunger.org if you need help this holiday season.
