Tropical Storm Eta approaches: Okeechobee County Commissioners to hold emergency meeting

OKEECHOBEE – Okeechobee County continues to monitor Tropical Storm Eta. Okeechobee County is currently under a tropical storm watch.

The Okeechobee Emergency Operations Center will open on Sunday, Nov. 7 at 9 a,m, and staff will continue to monitor the storm as it progresses through the day. Heavy rain and winds are expected, and with saturated soil, trees and power lines are more susceptible to wind damage.

Okeechobee County Commissioners will have an emergency meeting on Sunday, Nov. 7, at 1:30 p.m. in the Historic Okeechobee County Courthouse to discuss possible declaration of a local state of emergency in advance of the storm. The meeting will be live online at www.co.okeechobee.fl.us.
