OKEECHOBEE — Responding to a complaint regarding an intoxicated dump truck driver on Feb. 18, just before 9 a.m., Okeechobee City Police Officer Ramon Liberato was dispatched to the 800 block of Northwest Ninth Street.

According to Liberato’s report, a dump truck passed him as he was headed toward Ninth Street, and Sgt. Aurelio Almazan observed the truck swerve into the wrong lane twice.

Liberato initiated a traffic stop and the driver was identified as 36-year-old Mathew Lysiak from Pennsylvania. Liberato noted Lysiak appeared to be dozing off as he spoke with him.

Dispatch reported Lysiak did not have a valid driver's license, and the tag on the truck was registered to another vehicle.

A search of Lysiak’s pockets reportedly revealed 0.2grams of cocaine in a folded dollar bill, 0.2 grams methamphetamine in a baggy, 0.6 grams of cocaine in a baggy and two halves of an Alprazalam capsule. Eight used syringes and some used Brillo were located in the truck.

Lysiak was charged with possession of cocaine, possession of methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving without a license. His bond was set at $22,000.
