This week, Lake Okeechobee News readers have been asking, "What's being built on the property between Lunker's Grill and the Town & Country park on U.S. 441. The answer: Nothing is planned to be built there yet.
According to the Okeechobee Planning and Zoning Office, the property owner is putting in a retention pond under a permit from the South Florida Water Management District. The permit states the land use is Agricultural and the permit is for a 3 acre agriculture pond.
No building permits have been issued for the site.
