OKEECHOBEE -- At the March 11 meeting of the Okeechobee County Commissioners, the board accepted a donation check received from the Okeechobee Yatchette Club in the amount of $1,000. These funds are designated for the Project Help fund to assist seniors in the county with needs that are not provided for through the grant funding administered by the Senior Services department. The Yatchette Club has for many years now provided shelf-stable food items, small appliances, fans, and holiday gift bags for distribution to Senior Services clients. Commission Chair Terry Burroughs noted the club has been active in other community service projects in Okeechobee County.
