BRN to hold meeting
OKEECHOBEE — Promote your business at the Okeechobee Businesswomen’s Referral Network (BRN) meeting on Friday, Nov. 20, at 11:30 a.m. at Lakeside Grill, 1111 S. Elks serves dinner

Donate a Christmas tree
OKEECHOBEE — Okeechobee Main Street will host the Festival of Trees on Saturday, Nov. 21, from 6 to 9 p.m. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Hospice of Okeechobee. Donate blood Nov. 21 and 22
OKEECHOBEE — The Okeechobee Blood Roundup will be held on Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 21 and 22, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Okeechobee Freshman Campus, 610 S.W. Second Ave., All donors will receive a free Roundup t-shirt. Plus, a wellness checkup including COVID-19 antibody test, blood pressure, temperature, iron count, pulse and cholesterol screening. Save on overdue court fees
OKEECHOBEE — The county Clerk of the Circuit Court Office, 312 N.W. Third St., will hold an Operation Green Light Virtual event Nov. 9-21. The Clerk’s Office will be open on Saturday, Nov. 21, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Extended hours will be in effect Nov. 9, 10, 16 and 17 from 5 to 6 p.m. Okeechobee County customers with suspended driver licenses will have an opportunity to pay overdue court obligations, including traffic tickets, while saving up to 25% in additional fees to get their license back. Legion to host events

OKEECHOBEE — American Legion Post #64, 501 S.E. Second St., will host the following events: On Wednesday, Nov. 18, margaritas are $1.50 all day and tacos will be served from 11 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. The grill will be open too. Enjoy music by Wayne Purvis from 3 to 6 p.m. Thirsty Thursday is Nov. 19, screwdrivers and buckets of beer sold all day. Sign up for a $20 bar tab drawn the first Thursday of each month. Five-card bingo is from 4 to 6 p.m. On Friday, Nov. 20, wear a red shirt and get registered for a free dinner for two for the Auxiliary Friday fish fry. The kitchen is open from 5 to 8 p.m. and live music by Crystal Byrd is from 6 to 9 p.m. Call ahead for take out orders at 863-763-5309. On Saturday, Nov. 21, Happy Hour is all day and so are buckets of domestic beer. On Sunday, Nov. 22, there are NFL games, wing specials and you can purchase $1 drafts. On Monday, Nov. 23, five-card bingo is from 1 to 3 p.m. Lunch starts at 11 a.m. Top Shelf Tuesday is Nov. 24, and you can sign up for your choice of any bottle in stock drawn the first Tuesday of each month. You can purchase Bloody Mary’s and bucket of domestic beer all day. Lunch is served all day and it is meeting day.

Glades County

Free COVID testing
MOORE HAVEN — The Florida Department of Health in Glades County, 1120 Health Park Drive, will offer free COVID-19 Testing Monday, Nov. 23, from 9 to 11 a.m. (Weather permitting) No appointments are needed, no criteria or restrictions for testing. Adults and children 5 years and older (with parental consent) will be tested.

Donations sought for wreaths
BUCKHEAD RIDGE — On Saturday, Dec. 19, at 11:30 a.m. the Buckhead Ridge VFW Post 9528 will host the Glades County Wreaths across America placement of wreaths on 354 veterans’ graves at Ortona Cemetery, 8898 West S.R. 78. The Post is asking for a donation of $15 each, and three wreaths for $30. BUCKHEAD RIDGE — VFW Post 9528, 29012 S.R. 78 E., will host the following events: On Wednesday, Nov. 18, dauber bingo is from 1 to 4 p.m. The Ladies AmVets will serve a goulash dinner from 2 p.m. until they run out. On Thursday, Nov. 19, quarter bingo is from 2 to 4 p.m. On Friday, Nov. 20, three-card bingo is from 1 to 3 p.m. The Post will serve dinner from 5:30 to 7 p.m. and music by Tom Martin is from 6 to 10 p.m. On Saturday, Nov. 21, the VFW Riders are hosting a full breakfast from 8:30 to 11 a.m. and baked chicken with sides at 5 p.m. On Sunday, Nov. 22, the VFW Riders will serve a full breakfast from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Five-card bingo is at 5 p.m. On Monday, Nov. 23, washers is at 1 p.m., Wii Bowling is at 4 p.m., and five-card bingo is at 6 p.m. followed by center-right-left. On Tuesday, Nov. 24, Sons’ sliders is at 5:30 p.m. and cornhole is at 6:30 p.m. On Wednesday, Nov. 25, dauber bingo is from 1 to 4 p.m. The AmVets will serve kielbasa with sauerkraut for dinner at 5 p.m.

MOORE HAVEN — The Glades County Health Department, 1021 Health Park Drive, will offer free HIV testing for anyone on Tuesday, Dec. 1, from 8:30 to and 1 to 4:30 p.m.

Hendry County

HSWCD board to meet
LABELLE — The Hendry Soil and Water Conservation District (HSWCD) will hold a board meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 18, at 1 p.m. in the main room of the Dallas B. Townsend Agricultural Building, 1085 Pratt Blvd., Meetings are open to the public.

LABELLE — The Glades Soil and Water Conservation District (GSWCD) will hold a board meeting on Thursday, Nov. 19, at 9 a.m. in the main room of the Dallas B. Townsend Agricultural Building, 1085 Pratt Blvd. Meetings are open to the public.

Church hosts holiday bazaar
CLEWISTON — Faith Lutheran Church, 810 Cedar St., Clewiston, is holding a Thanksgiving/Christmas bazaar on Saturday, Nov. 21, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Lots of homemade crafts and baked goods will be for sale.

Elks host hoop shoot
CLEWISTON — The Clewiston Elks will host its local Hoop Shoot on Saturday, Nov. 28 at the basketball court of the Clewiston Youth Development Academy at 435 E. Circle Drive, weather permitting. Due to the coronavirus, only the local and district competitions will be held this year. Distancing and mask protocols will be in place for this event. Age groups for Girls and Boys are 8-9, 10-11, and 12-13. Age restrictions are in place. Medals will be awarded to the top three in each division. Medal winners will be invited to the Elks Southeast District Hoop Shoot at the Okeechobee Sports Complex on Saturday, Dec.19th. Registration for the local contest is from 9-9:30 AM.

CLEWISTON/LABELLE — Hendry County Health Department will offer free HIV testing for anyone on Tuesday, Dec. 1, from 8:30 to and 1 to 4:30 p.m. at their clinic locations: 1100 Olympia St. in Clewiston and 1140 Pratt Blvd. in LaBelle.

Palm Beach County

South Bay giveaway Friday
SOUTH BAY — Kings Catering, the Kings Tutoring & Mentoring service and the KTM Youth & Community Network will be offering free, hot Thanksgiving meals and Thanksgiving baskets for city residents only, plus gift cards for senior citizens and preregistered residents, on Friday, Nov. 20, from noon to 2 p.m. at The Bridge, 1025 Palm Beach Road, South Bay. The event is cosponsored by the Quantum Foundation, Palm Beach County Food Bank, Grassroots Consulting Inc., Project Thanksgiving and United States Sugar Corporation.

Legion has Auxiliary Market
BELLE GLADE — The American Legion, 101 S.E. Ave. D, will hold an Auxiliary Market on Saturday, Nov. 21, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Thanksgiving giveaway
PAHOKEE — The Boldin Foundation Annual Thanksgiving Giveaway will be held Monday, Nov. 23, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Anquan Boldin Stadium, 1204 Laramore Road. This giveaway will be drive-thru only.
