Eliceo Hernandez, 20, was arrested and charged with homicide-negligent manslaughter in connection with the early Sunday shooting death of a 30-year-old off-duty Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officer, Julian Keen, jr, in LaBelle.

It has been reported that Keen was off-duty, in the area of Nobles Road and Apache Circle trying to stop a hit and run suspect and was fatally shot. Further details have not been released by the Hendry County Sheriff’s Office. It is not yet known whether Hernandez is the hit-and-run suspect that Keen tried to stop.

The arrest came after deputies questioned three suspects detained during the investigation.

This is an ongoing investigation.
