A special child

This time last year how could we have known that this Christmas, especially our country would be in such confusion and turmoil? We are living in uncertain times! If ever, mankind needed a savior, it is now!

Thank God we have such a savior! He came to earth as a baby in Bethlehem and paid the ultimate price for our salvation, peace and goodwill. Because of him, we have hope.

The words of a song are as follows:
“In a word filled with doubts and confusion, it is so hard when you don’t understand, but I’m standing on a solid foundation and I’m holding to an unchanging hand!”

This solid foundation is “Jesus Christ.” He is the true meaning of Christmas. Remember the words the angel declared the night of his birth, “Fear Not! Unto you is born a savior who is Christ the Lord!”

He is God’s gift to mankind! He was not sent in glittering packaging, nor tied with pretty bows. He was wrapped in swaddling cloth and laid in a lowly manger. Yet, he was the greatest present ever to be given to this world.

Joy to the world.
The Lord has come!

A Special Child
Many years ago in the town of Bethlehem
Something caused quite a stir,
Wise men from the east came to him
They brought gold, frankincense and myrrh!

What was it about this little baby

Born to a virgin Jewish girl,
That would cause such a ruckus
And change the whole wide world?

Something important must have happened
To make even the stars get in line,
They guided the noble wise men
to the exact place and time!

The animals in the stable bowed to worship him
The glory of God filled the earth with such a glow
Who was this newborn baby boy
That the world would come to know!

Could he really be the son of God?
Wrapped in flesh as a man,
Could he be the promised one
The eternal great, “I Am!”

Let’s take him out of the lowly manger
He’s no longer a baby there,
He’s no longer on a rugged cross
He’s as close as a sincere prayer!

This time of year has become all about nice presents
We gather on that day with family for a meal,
But, do we reflect on the Christmas message
Is the birth of Jesus to us real?

The true gift given to us at Christmas time
Is free to me and you,
We won’t owe a penny on a credit card
There will be no balance due!
