Affected by T.S. Eta? Disaster assistance may be available

Posted

IMMOKALEE — After Tropical Storm Eta’s significant flood and wind impacts to Florida agricultural operations, the U.S. Department of Agriculture is making financial assistance available.

Producers and landowners can use the online Disaster Assistance Discovery Tool to help find the financial assistance programs that may be available to them. Go online to https://www.farmers.gov/recover/disaster-tool to fill it out and discover what your operation can receive.

This site is also protected by an SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) certificate that’s been signed by the U.S. government. The “https://” means all transmitted data is encrypted — in other words, any information or browsing history that you provide is transmitted securely.

After answering just five questions, the tool will identify applicable programs, including the Noninsured Crop Disaster Assistance Program, Environmental Quality Incentives Program, Tree Assistance Program and others. Financial assistance may be available to producers of commodities such as citrus, tropical fruit, strawberries and fruiting vegetables, honeybee colonies and more that are able to show losses inflicted by the event.

For more information on all USDA disaster assistance programs, visit farmers.gov/recover or contact your local USDA Farm Service Agency office.
