BELLE GLADE — Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Mu Rho Omega Chapter participated in the Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebrations for the city of Belle Glade. On Jan. 16, 2023, the chapter participated in Belle Glade’s MLK Day Parade and Celebration.
Mu Rho Omega continues to advocate for social justice and equip communities with the tools, knowledge, and support to activate their voices and mobilize self-help to empower communities to help themselves. One of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc.’s initiatives is Social Justice, which focuses on providing voter education, registration and mobilization efforts to empower communities to utilize their most powerful tools of community change and advocacy during local, state and national elections. During the MLK Day Celebration Mu Rho Omega members registered citizens to vote and distributed voter information packets.
The Mu Rho Omega Chapter would like to extend a special thanks to the League of Women Voters for assisting with voter registration; the Social Justice Initiative Chairman, Tamika Payne, Co-Chairman Alysia Boldin, as well as their 20 Pearls youth group.
