Argument ends in life-flight

Posted

OKEECHOBEE — After an argument with his girlfriend, a man was life-flighted to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center. Sharon Barrett, 55 was arrested Saturday, Jan. 16 at approximately 4:15 a.m. after an argument with her boyfriend reportedly turned physical.

According to Barrett, her boyfriend came home from work and ate dinner while watching TV. She thought the TV was too loud and said she was going to turn it down. She said he told her that was OK, but when she did, she said he jumped up and bit her on the shoulder. Afterward, he laid down on the couch to go to sleep.

The man said he woke to her hitting him with a folding table five or six times. He drove himself to the emergency room at Raulerson Hospital where Okeechobee County Sheriff’s Office was notified.

The arrest report notes he suffered permanent damage to his right eye and was flown to Lawnwood Medical Center.

Barrett was charged with causing great bodily harm. Her bond was set at $2,500.

She declined to press charges against her boyfriend for allegedly biting her.
