Bettie Harrell passed away on June 21, 2022, in LaBelle, Florida. On May 6, 1939, Bettie was born in Freehold, NJ to Bill and Jeanette Evans. When she was 12 years old, her family moved to Miami, Florida. She graduated from North Miami High School. Then she met the love of her life, Ralph Harrell. They were married for 61 years, until Ralph passed away on November 27, 2018.
Over the years Bettie wore many hats. She was a flawless seamstress, and also was a 4-H leader, taught baking and sewing. She was an excellent Floral Designer and longtime member of Beta Sigma Fi. She also was very craft savvy and made for her family and friends. Her Christmas tree was featured in the Palm Beach Post. Every ornament was hand-made by her and was just stunning. Then there was her great love for baking. All of her neighbors were happy to see her coming because they knew she had sweets, and most of all is the fact it made her happy.
Bettie leaves behind her loving children, Kevin Ralph Harrell, Sr. and his wife Amy; grandchildren, Kathryn Trainor and her husband Joey, Kevin Ralph Harrell, Jr.; daughter, Saundra Lynn and her daughters, Alicia Dawn and Jesse. She is also survived by many great grandchildren; one sister, Bonnie Federman; and her special fur baby, Ella.
Celebration of Bettie’s life was held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 2, 2022 at Akin-Davis Funeral Home – LaBelle, where visitation was Friday, July 1, 2022 from 5-7 p.m. Bettie will be laid to rest next to her loving husband, Ralph in the Fort Denaud Cemetery also in LaBelle.
