BELLE GLADE — Boost Mobile of Belle Glade has made a generous donation of $1,600 to offset cost for students wishing to attend the adult Medical Sciences Academy at West Technical Education Center (West Tech). The Sana Mohamad Scholarship awards are for interested adult students that do not qualify for financial aid through other local organizations such as CareerSource, Farm Workers Career Development Program, Community Action Program, etc.

West Tech is currently enrolling adult students for the next medical science cohort that will begin on January 4, 2021. Students have two program options within medical science – Home Health Aide and Phlebotomy. Both programs are 15 weeks in length and are delivered in a hybrid model, which consists of both online line and in-person instruction.

In addition to training in the medical field, West Tech offers pre-apprenticeship training in the areas of welding, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and carpentry; these classes are offered in partnership with Florida Training Services, Inc.

West Tech’s Adult General Education program serves those who need to improve their basic literacy and math skills; improve their oral and written English; practice for the GED® test to attain a high school equivalency diploma; and, prepare for college. Instructors also help students with science and social studies test preparation for GED® testing.
