Chartier honored by County Commission

OKEECHOBEE – On Jan. 14, the Okeechobee Board of County Commissioners issued a Proclamation to County Administrator, Robbie Chartier in honor of her Retirement on Jan.19, 2021.

Chartier began her public service in Charlotte County, Florida as a cost accountant, relocating to Okeechobee County in June 1998, to serve as the Deputy Administrator for Budget and Finance. Later serving as the Interim County Administrator on two separate occasions, and formally appointed to the position of County Administrator in 2011. Chartier was the first female appointed as County Administrator for Okeechobee County; and

Chartier has served the Okeechobee Board of County Commissioners and its employees for the past 22 years, with both professionalism and dedication; she holds a Master’s Degree in Public Administration and a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting; and

As the county administrator, Chartier was the Chief Executive Officer for Okeechobee County and carried out directives and policies of the Board. She had the direct supervisory responsibilities for the Deputy County Administrator, County Budget, Human Resources, Community Development, Facilities Maintenance, Community Services, Public Works, and Public Safety with indirect oversight over operational departments within those departments.

Chartier has served more than two decades in public service and is known for her attention to detail, exceptional work ethic, and encouraging leadership style. Chartier was instrumental in improving the level of transparency and perception of the County to the general public, by utilizing her leadership and management skills, her financial background knowledge, and her comprehensive knowledge of government.

Chartier’s leadership provided clarity to the County’s policy and procedures, enhanced fiduciary responsibility, and improved the overall operational function of all County Departments.

The Okeechobee County Board of County Commissioners issued the Proclamation with profound appreciation and recognition of Robbie Chartier for her dedicated commitment to this Board and its employees.
