City council plans meet and greet

Posted

OKEECHOBEE — Have you ever wondered why certain decisions are made in the city? Have you ever had a great idea you wish you could share with someone in charge? Have you ever wanted to meet a city councilmember and just sit and chat? Is one of your children interested in learning more about politics and local government? Now is your chance.

The Okeechobee City Council will be hosting an informal meet and greet/town hall meeting on March 21 from 6-6:30 p.m.

The meeting will be held at City Hall in Room 200. Light refreshments will be served.

Following this meeting, City Administrator Gary Ritter will give an inaugural State of the City Address. He will talk about what was accomplished last year and what is planned for this fiscal year.

The city council has held several town hall meetings over the last few years, but usually, they are not well attended. This is your chance to let the council know you want the town hall meetings to continue. Write down your questions, comments or ideas and come to city hall on the 21st.

For more information, contact City Clerk Lane Gamiotea at 863-763-3372 ext. 9814 or email lgamiotea@cityofokeechobee.com
