CLEWISTON — The Clewiston Museum is happy to announce the next program in the 2022-2023 Speaker Series will be a free presentation featuring Hailey Dansby, Gateway Communities Coordinator for the Florida Trail Association. Dansby will be presenting the new Florida Trail/Lake Okeechobee Scenic Trail (LOST) exhibit tripod and will be speaking about the trail’s mission and the Gateway Communities Program on Thursday, March 23 at 7 p.m.

As part of the 1500-mile Florida National Scenic Trail, the LOST is a popular destination for hikers. With the recent reopening of the trail, Dansby and museum staff have been working on updating the trail’s exhibit tripod, which is located in the lobby of the museum. Dansby will unveil the updated exhibit and will speak on the Florida Trail’s mission to connect people with places. She will also talk about the Florida Trail’s partnership with the museum as a Trail Passport Partner of Clewiston, the Florida Trail’s southernmost Gateway Community. In addition, Dansby will talk about the history of the LOST and its incorporation into the Florida National Scenic Trail.

The Clewiston Museum is a private not-for-profit that relies on donations, grants, the support of its members, and fundraising events to remain in operation. The museum is located at 109 Central Avenue in Clewiston and the hours of operation are Monday – Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday hours are by appointment only. Contact the museum at 863-983-2870 or via email at clewistonmuseum@embarqmail.com.
