Corps working to clear canal

MOORE HAVEN — U.S. Army Corps of Engineers heavy equipment operators will be working 12 hours a day through the weekend in an effort to clear out the tussocks in the canal that are blocking access to the Moore Haven Lock. The floating islands of thick plant material appear to be about 80 percent water hyacinth. On Thursday, crews were working in the area south of Moore Haven Lock and Dam.
