COVID-19 vaccinations continue

TALLAHASSEE – On Friday, the Florida Department of Health issued an update on the progress on the state’s vaccine distribution plan. Florida is in its fourth week of vaccine distribution and doses have been delivered to all of Florida’s 67 county health departments and hospitals in every region across the state.

Vaccinations are free. Anyone who is age 65 or older can make an appointment at any of the vaccination clinics in the state.

So far in Florida, through Jan. 7 (reported Jan. 8) 419,416 people have received the first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine; 24,200 have received the second dose for a total of 443,616 people vaccinated.

Vaccinations in South Central Florida include:
• Collier County: 7,843 vaccinated with first dose, 16 vaccindated with second dose;
• Glades County: 240 vaccinated with first dose, zero vaccinated with second dose;

• Hendry County: 625 vaccinated with first dose, one vaccinated with second dose;
• Martin County, 3,573 vaccindated with first dose, 19 vaccinated with second dose;
• Okeechobee County, 695 vaccinated with first dose, two vaccinated with second dose;
• Palm Beach County, 27,661 vaccinated with first dose, 401 vaccinated with second dose.

• Collier County: Appointments for the COVID-19 vaccine will be made via Eventbrite. Please visit CollierCountyCOVIDVaccines.Eventbrite.com.f

• Glades County: No appointments were available as of Jan. 9. When more vaccine is available, vaccinations will be by appointment and will be available Glades County Health Department, 1021 Health Park Drive, Moore Haven, 863-946-0707. Glades County residents are advised to go online to www.preparehendry.com for the consent form that must be filled out and brought to the health department to check in for the appointment.

• Hendry County: No appointments were available as of Jan. 9. When more vaccine is available, vaccinations will be by appointment  at the Hendry County Health Department, 1140 Pratt Blvd. LaBelle, 863-674-4041, and at the Hendry County Health Department, 1100 S. Olympia, Clewiston, 863-983-1408. Hendry County residents are advised to go online to www.preparehendry.com for the consent form that must be filled out and brought to the health department to check in for the appointment.

• Martin County: To request a vaccination and schedule an appointment, please call 772-221-4000 and select Option 3, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Visit http://martin.floridahealth.gov/index.html to find more information and resources about COVID-19.

• Okeechobee County: No appointments were available as of Jan. 9. For updates, go online to http://okeechobee.floridahealth.gov/. The health department phone number is 863-462-5800. The location of the health department is 1728 N.W. Ninth Ave., Okeechobee, 34972.

• Palm Beach County: To request an appointment, send an email to chd50feedback@flhealth.gov. Please remember to include your name, phone number, and date of birth. All emails are being received and will be contacted in order with further instructions as appointments slots and options become available.
